Born in Ripoll in 1958.

Bachelor and Doctor of Medicine and Surgery. Specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology and in Physical Education and Sports Medicine. He is considered one of the promoters of sports medicine in Catalonia. Josep Trueta Medal for Health Merit.

He has been medical director of the Granollers hospital. Executive President of Biocat from 2006 to 2010. He is currently director of the Centre for the Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technologies in Catalonia, Health Commissioner of Leitat and President of the Sant Pau Management Foundation and member of the Governing Council of the Terrassa health consortium and the Hospital del Mar.

He was Director of Strategy and Coordination of the Department of Health of the Government of Catalonia since January 2004 and Secretary of Strategy and Coordination since February 2006. Subsequently, he briefly assumed the position of Minister for Universities, Research and the Information Society in 2006.

He has also been a councillor and deputy mayor of Granollers City Council from 1995 to 2004.
