• The conference is committed to becoming the leading space for publicising experiments and projects based on the “smart city” concept applied to the area of railway mobility.
  •  The conference sessions focus on the use of new technologies in the area of integrated logistics and user service, and on studying international experiments.
On 3 June, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya is organising the second Smart Train Day, a conference Ferrocarrils set up in 2013 with the idea of championing the smart train concept to achieve smart railway management by applying technology and innovation to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the territory.

This second conference, which will take place as part of the International Logistics Exhibition (SIL) at Fira de Barcelona, begins with the idea of establishing the event as the leading space for passing on knowledge in southern Europe. It is structured in three sessions and those attending can find out about the latest ideas and experiments from recognised Spanish and international experts from different railway companies and institutions.

The programme will look in depth at smart applications and intelligent technologies in the new logistics chains; at international success stories such as the application of new safety measures in the Mexico City underground system and, finally, at new ideas from FGC with its new fraud control system using artificial intelligence, and from companies well known for implementing new technologies to improve users’ railway experiences.

Smart Train Day 2014 will take place in the Barloworld Logistics Room in Palau 8 of the Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc-Plaça d’Espanya complex. Those interested in going to the conference need to complete the registration process on the www.smarttrainday.cat website, where they will also find detailed information about the programme, speakers and other details of interest.
