During the month of July, Catalonia broke the record for total exportations in one month. Catalan sales increased by 6.9% in July compared with the same month in 2013, reaching a total of 5.66 billion euros, the highest ever for a standard month.
 
According to the Ministry of Economy and Knowledge, between January and July, Catalan exports increased by 2.6% in accumulative terms, totalling a new record of 35.4 billion euros. A significant increase compared with the same period in 2013, placing Catalonia as the top exporter in Spain and accounting for 25.5% of all exports in the Spanish State. It must also be noted that in first months of 2014, Spanish exports (not including Catalan ones) increased by 1.3%.  
 
The record set in the month of July is also in addition to the fact that Catalonia has, between January and June, exceeded in the number of regularly exporting companies selling abroad during the whole of 2013. These companies are in reference to those which have exported consecutively in the four previous years.
 
Specifically, 14,814 regularly exporting businesses have sold abroad during the first six months of 2014, vis-à-vis the 14,680 businesses exporting from January until June during the previous year. Therefore, in the first semester of 2014, the number of regularly exporting companies has increased by 7.9% compared to the same period of the previous year, attaining a new historic high in Catalonia.
