Dr. Xavier Gómez-Batiste appointed as new Medical Officer for Palliative and Long-term Care by the WHO
Doctor Xavier Gómez-Batiste, director of ICO’s QUALY Observatory, director of the University of Vic’s Chair for Palliative Care, scientific director of the Comprehensive Care Programme for Patients with Advanced Cancer (Obra Social “la Caixa”) and director of SARQuavitae Palliative Care, has been appointed as the new Medical Officer for Palliative and Long-term Care by the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva.
Doctor Gómez-Batiste’s presentation as the new Medical Officer for Palliative and Long-term Care will be today, November 18th. Attending the event will be the Catalan Minister of Health, Boi Ruiz; general director for Health Research and Planning, Carles Constante; director of the Programme for the Prevention and Care of Chronicity, Carles Blay; director of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (Institut d’Oncologia de Catalunya - ICO), Candela Calle; rector of the University of Vic (UVic), Jordi Montaña; and the corporate director for La Caixa’s Social Area (Obra Social La Caixa), Marc Simon.
