The President of the Catalan Government, Artur Mas, will travel to the United States from the 5th until the 9th of April, visiting San Francisco and New York, with the objective to promote cooperation between Catalonia and the US, as well as to explain the Catalan democratic Process. The Chief Executive will be joined by Roger Albinyana, the Generalitat’s Foreign and EU Affairs Secretary and by Andrew Davis, the Government’s Delegate to the United States.   
 
This will be the third official visit by President Mas to the United States. His first trip as President was in June 2012 where he visited Boston and New York; his second official trip took place in June last year when he visited the Grifols plant in North Carolina. The second part of his last trip should have included an official visit to California; however, the trip was made short due to the proclamation of Felipe VI as King of Spain.
 
 
California
 
The President’s programme begins with a meeting in the city of San Francisco with California Governor Jerry Brown on Monday April 6th. The Governor and the President will sign a collaborative agreement between Catalonia and the state of California with the objective of promoting business and economic cooperation. This agreement to encourage collaboration between the two territories will encompass different areas of priority; including technology, communication, sustainable mobility, biotechnology, environment, agriculture, tourism, education and culture.  
 
The Catalan president will also intervene in a panel discussion co-organized by World Affairs Council and Commonwealth Council, under the title “The ties that bind California and Europe: a perspective from Catalonia”. He will also hold take assist a gathering with the Catalan community based in California.
 
 
New York
 
The President will travel to New York on April 8th where he hold a conference at Columbia University entitled “Catalonia at the Crossroads” which will be on the subject of the Catalan political and democratic Process and the steps that are being taken since the 9N vote. The Chief Executive will be presented by Xavier Sala-i-Martín, J. and M. Grossman Professor of Economics at Columbia University.
 
Furthermore, Artur Mas is expected to visit the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia in the United States and will also be attending a gathering with the Catalan community in New York.
