On Thursday, Navàs (Barcelona) became the first municipality in the entire Spanish state to have Stolperstein memorials plaques to commemorate individual victims of Nazism –both those who died and survivors who were sent to Nazi camps.

The Navàs Town Hall had four of the small, cobblestone-sized plaques installed in the village’s main square and another Stolperstein laid in Palà de Torroella to commemorate the lives of Antoni Barberà Pla, Esteve Flotats Caus, Jaume Obradors Grífol, Ramon Sala Besa and Josep Soler Torrens.

The event was attended by the artist Gunter Demnig as well as the descendants of the mentioned victims.
