• The President and the Executive Members of the Catalan Government have suspended their official programmes until midnight tomorrow
The President of the Catalan Government, Artur Mas, has decreed a national day of mourning in Catalonia for the death of a Barcelona state school teacher. The incident occurred this morning when a student who was allegedly armed with a crossbow and a knife killed a teacher and wounded four others at Joan Fuster secondary school in the Sagrera neighbourhood of Barcelona. The decree signed this morning by the President declares official mourning in the entire territory from today until midnight tomorrow; furthermore the Chief Executive and the Catalan Ministers have suspended their official agendas until Wednesday.
 
During this period of mourning all reception celebrations and official events will be suspended and the flags on Catalonia’s public buildings will be flown at half-mast.
