• On Monday, the President will hold a special conference on the future of Catalonia in Europe at the Sciences Po in Paris
  • During his visit, Carles Puigdemont will also sign a cooperation agreement between the Government of Catalonia and the Île-de-France Regional Council
President Puigdemont will make an official three-day visit to France from Sunday 16th to Tuesday 18th October.  While the main focus of the visit will be on his conference on the future of Catalonia in Europe at the Sciences Po in Paris, the President will grant various interviews with French media outlets and meet with the Catalan community residing in the French capital.
 
During his visit, the Carles Puigdemont and president Valérie Pécresse will sign a cooperation agreement between the Government of Catalonia and the Île-de-France Regional Council covering various matters of priority for both institutions. During the event the Catalan president will deliver a keynote speech to highlight the importance of the economic and institutional relationship between the two territories.
 
Accompanying the President on the institutional visit will be the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Institutional Relations and Transparency, Raül Romeva, and the Government’s Delegate to France and Switzerland, Martí Anglada.
 
 
Sunday 16th October
 
The President’s official visit will begin in Paris on Sunday, 16th of October, at 6.30pm with an informal gathering with members of the Catalan community residing in Paris. The event will be held at the Government’s Delegation in France.
 
 
Monday 17th October
 
At 6.45pm Carles Puigdemont will travel to the Sciences Po where he will be received by the director of university’s Centre de Recherches Internationales (CERI), Christian Lequesne. At 7.15pm the conference entitled ‘Quel avenir pour la Catalogne en Europe?’ will begin with a brief introduction from the director.
 
 
Tuesday 18th October

At 3pm, the Head of the Catalan Government will meet with president of the Regional Council of Île-de-France, Valérie Pécresse, before signing the cooperation agreement that aims to strengthen the political, economic and institutional ties between the two territories. Specifically, the agreement will cover five areas of priority for both institutions, including: biomedical innovation and the pharmaceutical industry, education, urban waste management, the videogames industry and research.
