The Palau Robert is mounting an exhibition on El Celler de Can Roca, open to the public from 22 November to 23 April 2017, which looks at the creative process and the solid background of the Roca brothers’ restaurant, acknowledged as the finest in the world. The exhibition coincides with the Year of Gastronomy and Wine Tourism and Catalonia’s designation as a European Region of Gastronomy.
"El Celler de Can Roca, from the Earth to the Moon" is organised by the Government of Catalonia with the support of El Celler in recognition of the Roca brother’s project as a benchmark on the international food scene. It is sponsored by BBVA and the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board and has technological sponsorship from Samsung. The Catalan Tourist Board and the Institut Ramon Llull have also collaborated.
The President of the Government of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, will be presiding at the opening ceremony at 7 pm on 21 November. The event will also be attended by the Director-General for Publicity, Ignasi Genovès; the Roca brothers; the exhibition curator, Toni Massanés; and representatives of the exhibition sponsors.
The Moon, a concept that features in the exhibition title, represents a successful dream after a search for excellence pursued for 30 years in Taialà, a neighbourhood on the outskirts of Girona. El Celler de Can Roca opened in 1986 at the initiative of Joan and Josep, who were joined by Jordi in 2000. El Celler was regarded as the top restaurant in the world in 2013 and 2015 by Restaurant Magazine.
The exhibition narrative is divided into six sections: Memory of a Bar, Training, From the Earth to the Moon, Kaleidoscope, Total Experience and Memento Mori.
