The Minister for Digital Policy and Public Administration, Jordi Puigneró, summed up this year’s edition of the MWC in very positive terms: “This was the best MWC ever, not only for the number of visitors, but especially in terms of the quality of what was on show.”

Puigneró said: “Catalonia has shown the world what 5G is … For the first time, people have been able to see practical applications of this new technology.”

He said that the Ministry for Digital Policy took the lead at the stand of the Government of Catalonia this year to “showcase the country’s digital policies and raise Catalonia’s profile as a digital hub that’s setting an international benchmark.” The minister added: “Everyone’s had a chance to see the most innovative and pioneering projects we’re piloting, which will lead to better services for the public.”

Puigneró said Catalonia is well-positioned in what will be one of the “main industries of the future”, which will help “Catalonia advance both economically and in social terms”.
