President Torra has sent a message to reassure tourist who are currently visiting Catalonia or considering travel to the region.

Catalonia is proud to be considered a first-class tourist destination and as such is implementing all necessary measures and following international guidelines to ensure everyone's safety and contain the spread of Covid-19.

However, like many other parts of Europe, Catalonia has experienced occasional outbreaks of Covid-19, as is the case with Barcelona, Figueres and the area of Segrià. Let me reassure you that all necessary steps have been taken to contain the virus and that the situation is being closely monitored by the Catalan government.

Outside of these three areas, major tourist destinations such as the Costa Brava, Costa Daurada, inland Catalonia and the Catalan Pyrenees remain unaffected and people can travel safely.

Public transportation, tourist attractions and services are operating normally and closely following their respective safety protocols. The Catalan tourism sector has been providing input and solutions on how to best tackle the situation from the beginning and working hard to adapt to the new circumstances and generate confidence among our visitors and guests.

In addition, Catalonia has a first-rate health system with the capacity to react if necessary.
