- The Catalan Water Agency reports on the microbiological quality of water at coastal and inland swimming areas
The Catalan Water Agency is responsible for monitoring water quality at coastal beaches and inland swimming areas during the bathing season.
- The Agency carries out regular environmental inspections and collects water samples for analysis at least once every two weeks to ensure that water quality standards specified in applicable EU and Catalan regulations are met.
- Monitoring is performed at points located at beaches along the full length of the Catalan coast. Bathing areas are rated based on the results of these analyses, and the outcomes are reported to local authorities, the media and the public.
