Government speakesperson Meritxell Budó:

The Minister of the Presidency, Meritxell Budó, visited Barcelona Supercomputing Center-CNS, a centre specializing in high-performance computing (HPC) managed by MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe.

The President highlighted the work of innovation, research and investigation that is carried out in this technological infrastructure, as it enables "to improve people's well-being and quality of life" as well as "to open new economic opportunities and new skilled jobs in the country”.

"The Catalan Government is committed to this kind of infrastructures, so they continuously advance and improve and give thus more capacity to all users who use the equipment externally", he said.

For this reason, the Government has renewed the agreement with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center for another ten years, until 2029, with an amount of €59 million to cover new needs and further improve the capacity of this centre that runs at full capacity today.
