- Open Cosmos and Sateliot are the companies awarded the contracts tendered by Institut d'Estudis Espacials de Catalunya (IEEC) within the NewSpace Strategy of the Catalan Government.
- The first nanosatellite will take off from Kazakhstan on 20 March and will provide IoT connectivity throughout the territory.
- The second, dedicated to Earth observation, will provide key information to influence the fight against climate change.
- The launch of these two nanosatellites will improve the services of the Catalan Government and different sectors of the Catalan economy and society.
The headquarters of the Ministry of Digital Policies and Public Administration hosted the signing of contracts for the design, construction, launch and subsequent management of the data provided by the first two nanosatellites that the Catalan Government will put into orbit in the framework of the NewSpace Strategy of Catalonia.
The signing ceremony was attended by the director Jordi Puigneró and the director of Institut d'Estudis Espacials de Catalunya (IEEC), Ignasi Ribas, as well as the top executives of the two companies awarded the contracts: Rafael Jordà, CEO of Open Cosmos, and Jaume Sanpera, CEO of Sateliot.
