The Government will provide an additional 3.7 million euros to the budget of AGAUR (Agency for the Management of University and Research Grants) that will be used to finance programs to attract and retain scientific talent to the country.

Through the new addendum, the programme incorporates the financial resources provided in the Decree of extension of the Catalan Government's budgets for 2021, which will be used to finance the programmes for the recruitment of research personnel for the country's educational system, in addition to the management costs.

The contract between the Administration of the Catalan Government and AGAUR for the period 2018-2021 contemplates a total funding of more than 420 million euros. These financial resources are distributed among the following programmes: education and research (216.8 million euros); research and development (164 million euros); university education (22.8 million euros), and management and general administration (15.8 million euros).

The predoctoral aid programme is aimed at universities, research centres and hospital foundations for the recruitment of new research personnel to improve the quality of research.

On the other hand, the call for predoctoral grants, is aimed at university research departments and units for the recruitment of research personnel in a training period.

Finally, the research groups in Catalonia will receive support in order to enhance their activities and their scientific, economic and social impact.
