The President of the Catalan Government, Pere Aragonès, said this afternoon after meeting with the head of the Government of Andorra, Xavier Espot, that with this meeting "we resume bilateral relations between the Principality of Andorra and the Catalan Government, and we begin a new stage in which we will intensify relations between the two governments and strengthen collaboration and joint work".
The head of the Executive made these statements in a joint press conference with the head of the Government of Andorra, who noted that the meeting was a "historic occasion", because it had been 12 years since there had been a meeting between the leaders of the two territories, although "good neighborly relations have remained unchanged".
Both Pere Aragonès and Xavier Espot have emphasized that the will is to meet once or twice a year and that the next one would be in Andorra. "In these meetings we will design shared strategies for the future of our respective countries", said the President of the Catalan Government.
President Aragonès remarked that with today's meeting "we give a new impulse to this new stage with which we will reinforce the synergies between the two governments and the good neighborliness with a country with which we have historically been interconnected". "And we will do so by cooperating on the basis of mutual trust and the will to progress, and from the shared responsibility of working to improve the lives of all citizens of Catalonia and Andorra", he reiterated.
