The head of the executive branch has received the directors of the agencies of the European Union
The President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, received this afternoon at the Palau de la Generalitat the directors of all the agencies of the European Union. The head of the executive assured that meetings like today's are "a great opportunity because it is a way of showing the commitment of the Catalan institutions to the shared challenges of the whole European Union. "Catalonia has an unequivocal European commitment," added the president.
The head of the Executive pointed out that Catalonia can contribute to overcoming the current challenges of the European continent "in strategic areas such as the provision of chips to provide absolutely essential autonomy to the high-tech industry and the rest of the industry". President Aragonès highlighted the network of research centers and the country's innovative and industrial ecosystem and added that "Catalonia will be the most loyal partner of the European chip project." He also highlighted the contribution that Catalonia can make with the Vall de l'Hydrogen Verd (Green Hydrogen Valley) to have clean energy in the future of Europe.
The meeting at the Palau de la Generalitat was attended by the acting director of the European agency Fusion for Energy, Pietro Barabaschi. The event was also attended by the Minister of Education, Josep Gonzàlez-Cambray, and the Minister of Health, Josep M. Argimon, among other representatives of bodies of the Generalitat, as well as senior officials of the European Commission and the representatives of the European institutions in Barcelona.
The EU Agencies Network (EUAN), whose presidency rotates among its members, brings together the 48 EU agencies located throughout the European Union and facilitates collaboration between them. From last March until 28 February, it is the European agency Fusion for Energy, which has its headquarters in Catalonia, who holds the position.
The role of these agencies is to support the EU in specific policies and bring the European Union closer to both companies and all citizens. In the case of Fusion for Energy, it works to make fusion energy a reality, an abundant, safe and sustainable energy.
