- Each year, a particular sector of the country will receive recognition by the Government for excellence in promoting Catalonia around the world
- The monetary prize will be allocated to a specific initiative, chosen by a jury composed of prominent individuals from the sector receiving recognition by the Government
Today, the Government approved the reformulation of the Catalonia in the World Award, established in 2022, to make it more socially oriented and ensure that the accolade has a positive impact on society.
The main change is the abolition of the five existing categories to consolidate them into a single award, through which a particular sector of the country will receive recognition by the Government for excellence in promoting Catalonia around the world.
Subsequently, a jury will be established consisting of personalities from the sector receiving recognition. They will select and reward a project that is currently contributing to the internationalisation of Catalonia.
In this way, the Government aims to publicly recognise sectors of the country that have excelled in their activity on the international stage. However, at the same time, it ensures that the monetary prize benefits an emerging initiative, thus providing a return to society.
The ultimate goal of the award remains the same: to recognise the work of Catalan individuals or entities contributing to the visibility of the country abroad.
The Government plans to announce the first sector to be recognised in April, then the jury will be formed, consisting of individuals with a solid background in this sector, who will be responsible for selecting the winning project from the nominations submitted by the public. The monetary prize amount will be specified for each annual call. The goal of the award is for the winning project to be able to continue contributing to the internationalisation of Catalonia.
