- Carme Ruscalleda receives the Bite Honorary Award at the National Wine Tourism and Gastronomy Gal
- The head of the Executive emphasised that Catalonia will become a World Region of Gastronomy in 2025
The acting President of the Government of Catalonia, Pere Aragonès i Garcia, attended the National Wine Tourism and Gastronomy Gala, which took place at the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, where he emphasised that “Catalonia is an international gastronomic powerhouse” and contributes “more added value to our society.”
President Aragonès pointed out that these awards are “the perfect event to promote a sector of our country that helps us explain who we are,” because, according to Aragonès, “we have a sector with extraordinary potential in the field of gastronomy, food and wine.”
According to Aragonès, Catalonia has “the perfect pairing” between “gastronomy and tourism”, because “gastronomy is culture,” and the Catalan Government is committed “to value, rather than volume,” he added.
The President highlighted “our national commitment to responsible tourism,” a tourism that is “lessseasonal, and more diversified, with smaller volumes and with added value.” Aragonès pointed to “the value chain” which “starts with the production in our farming, by fishermen, our country's producers, until it reaches our plate, both at home and in a restaurant.”
The head of the Executive presented the Bite Honorary Award to Carme Ruscalleda, who Aragonès described as “the best ambassador of our country's cuisine”, highlighting her career “as both a culinary professional and a communicator.”
Aragonès concluded his speech by expressing his thanks to all the recipients of these second Bite and Mos Awards for their work “in making our country's cuisine and our products so beloved,” and said that in Catalonia today, “we are an international gastronomic powerhouse based on value, effort and talent.”
The event was also attended by the Ministers for Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda, David Mascort i Subiranas, and for Social Rights, Carles Campuzano i Canadés, as well as the Secretary for Business and Competitiveness, Albert Castellanos i Maduell, and the Director General for Tourism, Marta Domènech i Tomàs.
The Bite and Mos Awards, which are being presented for the second time this year, recognise the key role played by creators of digital content related to food and wine in promoting this type of tourism while highlighting Catalonia as a leading international destination for food and wine.
